Rockefeller named Ford’s vice president pick in surprise

President Ford nominated former New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller for vice president after 11 days of secrecy. Rockefeller, 66, a financier and longtime GOP figure, would be the second vp chosen under the 25th Amendment if confirmed.

Indian woman slain on Schrader ranch near Ukiah

Local tax funds: $91.4 million to California cities and counties

State Board of Equalization member William M. Bennett announced the August 1974 distribution of local sales and use tax funds. Cities will receive $59.7 million and counties $10.3 million, with a total cities and counties distribution of $70 million. Additional county local transportation funds total $17.5 million, and special districts like BART get $3.9 million. Smaller allocations include Mendocino County $65,000 Ukiah $55,000 Willits $23,000 Fort Bragg $20,000 Point Arena $1,000 Lake County $41,000 and Lakeport $12,000.
