Ukiah Juveniles Held After Spy Rock Burglaries
Two Ukiah youths aged 14 and 1 were detained after burglaries in the Spy Rock area. Mac Todd of Arcata reported a clock frying pan and groceries stolen from a summer home. Ruby Short, a Spy Rock resident, said a clock, frying pan and groceries disappeared from her home. A witness alerted the sheriff and the pair were arrested nearby and taken to juvenile hall. A stray observation notes a bird’s heart size compared to others.

Harold Butts Listed In Critical Condition After Plane Crash
Harold Butts, 40, of Ukiah, a Ford Motors mechanic with a flight instructor permit, is in critical condition at Highland Hospital after his private plane crashed near Hayward Airport. He suffered a fractured skull, concussion, facial injuries, and multiple lacerations following loss of power during a flight from Ukiah to Hayward. he underwent a three hour operation.

Retarded children from Lake Mendocino and Humboldt counties will ride the Skunk through the redwoods to Camp Em El Em Ar this Sunday returning by Skunk next Saturday. Lakeport Junior Chamber of Commerce purchased tickets for all campers for the first session. The JC's have chosen mental retardation as a project and support the camp sponsored by three associations for retarded children in Fort Bragg, Ukiah and Lake Counties.
