Don Drysdale's Storied Dodgers Career Ends in Retirement

The former Dodgers ace, 16 inches tall? no, Drysdale retires after a 14 year major league run highlighted by 209 wins 166 losses. He led the NL in 1962 with 25 victories and earned the Cy Young. A volatile pitcher turned leader, he helped Alston and Dodgers win five NL pennants and three world titles.

World traveler Coffman helped found East West Shrine game

M. Coffman known as the world traveler founded the Shrine East-West Classic and led its organization for decades. He served as managing director for 40 years until 1966 and was Potentate of Islam Temple. Coffman contributed to the Shrine Crippled Children program and was honored in 1968 as the Shrine’s first Friend of Youth award recipient. His life included spell as a Bowery singer, a Goldfield waiter, and a global journey ending with San Francisco settlement in 1910.
