Giants Split See Giants Drop to Second in NL Race

The Giants lost the opener 10-6 despite a four-homer attack but won the nightcap 7-5 after blowing a four-run lead. The split put San Francisco four percentage points behind idle Pittsburgh, while the Dodgers fell to third after losing to Atlanta. Marichal missed his start with an ankle injury. SANTA ROSA UPI reports Art Powell and Clemon Daniels signed new contracts with the Oakland Raiders ending a holdout. The duo rejoined camp as the AFL season nears, after reporting then walking out amid dispute. Both receive raised pay though exact terms were not disclosed. Powell had 52 catches for 800 yards and Daniels 36 for 568 yards last season. Daniels led the team with 834 rushing yards on 219 attempts.
