Mendocino College site approved for 1975 budget funding
Mendocino College officials announced that Sacramento has completed evaluation of the Redwood Valley site a mile north of Highway 20 and 101 and will recommend funding in the 1975 state budget. The 138.66 acre parcel, owned by Soinila Finne and Thomas families, is set for a September 1978 start on first buildings, with 67 percent state funds and 33 percent college funds.

Formaldehyde plant EIR hearing set for Sept 19
County planners schedule public hearing Thursday Sept 19 in supervisors chambers on Georgia Pacific Corporation formaldehyde plant in the north Ukiah area. The planning commission will also consider a use permit for construction. The 125 page EIR is available at the public library and Lake Mendocino Drive planning department. Public comments are invited, with written input due before Sept 3. A separate Aug 27 hearing will address ambient air standards, after which the Air Pollution Control district may issue the construct permit.

Lightning Topples Fir Near Residence in Perkins Street Yard
Lawrence and Alta Samsoe of 813 West Perkins Street narrowly escaped injury when a lightning bolt toppled a 50 foot fir, missing the house by feet.
