Boyce Convicted of Espionage in TRW Case

Christopher John Boyce, 23, former TRW security clerk and son of a former FBI agent, was found guilty of espionage for filming thousands of classified TRW documents to sell to Russian diplomats. Red Adair Arrives to Help Cap North Sea Gusher

Paul Red Adair, famed Houston oil well firefighter, flew to Stavanger to lead a new attempt to shut off a North Sea gusher that has polluted an area larger than Rhode Island. His team reported slow progress as they worked to cap the 120 foot high eruption of oil gas and mud.

Young bride shot in Robbery Assault case in San Francisco

In San Francisco a 25 year old bride Leslie Lundquist was shot in the head and pistol whipped during a robbery she and her Navy husband William Lundquist struggled with a robber for 53 cents. Four suspects were under arrest as she lay in San Francisco General Hospital.

Jaworski vows to reveal Nixon Watergate ties if confession not made

Organized crime figures move to California says AG report

A confidential California attorney general report notes mob figures from New York Arizona Michigan Pennsylvania Ohio and Louisiana are moving to or visiting the state. It cites Los Angeles and San Diego garment work porn industry loans and car dealers as crime fronts and warns prison gangs like Mexican Mafia Nuestra Familia Aryan Brotherhood and Black Guerrilla Family run major narcotics and contract killings. The Southern California Mafia is small about 21 members with oldest about 67 and youngest 50.

Keene pushes California forest resource inventory bill AB 452

Assemblyman Barry Keene advances AB 452 to inventory and analyze California forest resources. The bill orders the Board of Forestry to survey all forest resources by 1979 and update every decade, considering timber wilderness range watershed recreation fish and wildlife. Fire season opens in Mendocino County warn residents

Fire season for Mendocino County opens this Sunday as California Forestry fire stations go 24 hours. Rural residents should contact local officials for permits and fire safety steps and call 459 5336 for emergency command center needs. A Santa Rosa truck driver William Cave 32 died when brakes failed on Ukiah Boonville Road and cab was crushed. Ukiah fire department and a wrecker cut away the cab to reach the body. Cave drove for Shuster Logging Company of Willits.

Senate approves standard deduction tax cut bill in Senate

The Senate passed a tax bill delivering about 100 to 200 dollar cuts for most standard deduction users and simplifying forms for non itemizers. It also approved up to 2.25 billion for countercyclical revenue sharing and kept business incentives totaling 4.8 billion over two years. The measure heads to a House Senate conference committee.
