Oak Manor fourth graders led by principal Bob Guilfoyle explore experimental science through a rocket project. students design rockets from balsa aluminum or foil using CO2 cartridges to test speed and distance. Beginning May 4 in Uriah and other cities parcel post delivery shifts to Monday through Friday with no Saturday service while six day parcel post continues on mounted city carriers and rural routes. Special deliveries keep seven day week. Saturday window services shrink to 9 am to noon with no money orders or box rent collected.

Car Hits Pole on North State injures Ukiah men
Two Ukiah men were seriously injured at 12:30 a.m. when a speeding northbound car veered from N State Street and struck a utility pole opposite the Manor Inn. Driver Robert N. Myers, 21, suffered lacerations contusions and possible neck fracture. passenger Leslie D. Marrufo, 21, had a severe scalp injury. Myers was cited for speeding 50 mph in a 35 zone and no valid license.
