Transcripts of 36 of 42 Nixon Watergate conversations have been completed and will be reviewed by the House Judiciary Committee weekend ahead of a new Tuesday submission deadline. Officials noted profanities and irrelevant material were cut, actual tapes may not be handed over.

Willits council struggles over missing bid for parking lot
Willits City Council delayed action on the Penney's Parking Lot bid after one bid appeared missing and later a second bid was found. Ukiah Clean-up Week Begins With Free Rubbish Haul
Ukiah residents may place rubbish and odds and ends curbside on their regular pickup day for free disposal during Clean-up Week running Monday through Friday May 3. Large items will be collected by city trucks. the effort is sponsored by the city, chamber of commerce, and solid wastes division. Miss Mendocino County Pageant Set For Saturday Night
Tomorrow night Ukiah fans will witness seven contestants compete for the Miss Mendocino County title and a 500 dollar scholarship at Carl Purdy hall Ukiah Fairgrounds. Contestants include Janeane Brown Terri Holloway Robin Heathman Karen Shields Judith Brown Jenny Kay Sasser and Myrna Oliphant with judges Gary Queale Bill Bertram Don Giresti Julie Moretton and Guila Leone. The winner earns the right to represent Mendocino County in Santa Cruz at Miss California Pageant this fall with runner ups receiving 150 and 100 scholarships. Tickets cost 2.50 for adults and 1.25 for children 12 and under.

Fire district wins suit over water flow for Hospitality House motel
Superior Judge A B Broaddus ruled the Ukiah Valley Fire Protection District and Fire Inspector Gene Hassler acted within rights to require a 3000 gpm water flow system for the new Hospitality House motel. The decision says hydrants delivering 1500 to 3000 gpm meet safety standards and that plaintiffs may recover part or all costs for additional water hookups, with estimated costs at 40000 dollars. Notice of the requirement was issued before construction began on Talmage Road.
