Ukiah Valley Rodeo Opens Season With Western Fair

The Ukiah Valley Rodeo kicks off May 19 20 at the 12th District Fairgrounds sponsored by Ray Hicks Auburn and the 12th District Fair. Riders ropers compete for prizes from entry fees plus added money with seven arena events and a Western Dance and Chuck Wagon grub planned for attendees. Tickets go on sale across Mendocino and Lake Counties.

Junior Golf Tourney Delayed to Friday Morning

Clarke Beats Stickney In Ukiah Club Championship Playoff

Clarke defeats Ruell Stickney 66 and 5 in a championship playoff at Ukiah Municipal Golf Course to win the Senior Men's Golf Club championship. Ukiah Men's Club beat Rinonerville by a wide margin in interclub play with C K Johnson shooting 72 low gross and Dick Tanatt 65 low net. Ukiah pro Winston Howe and Frank Weatherford failed to place in the Northern California Pro Amateur event. Next match is vs Healdsburg on April 29. entries for the May 5-6 Ukiah Invitational Amateur Team championships are welcome.

Montana bout Set For Gene Fullmer Vs Paul Pender

Middleweight champions Gene Fullmer of the NBA and Paul Pender will fight for the division title in Bozeman Montana in mid June. Pender holds claims in New York Massachusetts and Europe. Fullmer is billed as the reigning champion of the NBA.
