Masonite's Western Lumber Division buys Cloverdale Lumber Company assets for cash. The sawmill near Cloverdale processes 12 to 15 million board feet of redwood and Douglas fir annually and will operate under Harold and Richard Trimble. A public hearing on Ukiah's General Plan is scheduled for Monday at 4 30 p m in the Ukiah Veterans Building. The city planning commission will hear input from area residents as Carol Walker of Lampman Associates presents the plan covering open space land use housing scenic highways noise and transportation. In Ukiah early April 18 1906 the San Andreas quake rattled the area but caused minimal harm. Willits Fort Bragg Santa Rosa and Mendocino towns saw heavier damage while Ukiah escaped significant loss aside from a new building on S State Street deemed unfit. The Ukiah Republican Press noted cracks shattered plate glass and a torn down two story structure. Overall county damage reached about 1 million dollars with no severe injuries in Ukiah.
