60 000 Fans Expected to See Revamped Coast League

More than 60,000 fans were expected to attend opening games of the revamped Pacific Coast League today and tonight as the league, now in three new cities Spokane Salt Lake City and Phoenix, sought to stay alive amid westward expansion by the Giants and Dodgers. Opening day drew near capacity crowds in Vancouver Seattle and Portland despite rain. In Phoenix a sellout of 6500 was anticipated for a night game with San Diego. The league bet on new parks and cautious optimism as it entered its 56th season.
