Asman, 23, is to be arraigned on misdemeanor assault and resisting arrest charges after allegedly beating eligibility worker Nancy Shoush at the Social Services department on Main Street Friday. Asman was subdued by staff, jailed, and attempted suicide by hanging in a cell before his 7:30 p.m. arraignment. the victim was treated and released from Mendocino Community Hospital. Bus Drivers Strike Adds to San Francisco Woes
A strike by suburban commuter bus drivers worsened San Francisco transit woes. Traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge surged early as thousands left Marin for the city. 6 to 8 p.m. flow reached 12,699, about 3,000 above normal. Hearst sentenced to 35 years with psychiatric review
