Seals Do It Nip Seattle for Playoff Berth

The Seattle Totems failed to reach the WHL playoffs after a 4-2 loss to Portland, finishing one point behind San Francisco for the fourth spot. Portland forward Cliff Schmautz set the league scoring title with 104 points and notched the winner. Art Jones added a hat trick and 102 season points to tie for second. San Francisco lost 6-5 to the California Angels in the final exhibition game, Jim Fregosi launching a three run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
