Calpella resident Chester Mack addressed the board to seek public lavatories, beach garbage cans, a litter investigator funded by fines, and a camping fee to defray maintenance costs. He offered to haul trash if given a pickup and gas, and urged road grading. Officials noted Navarro Beach is private property, but Avila said public nuisance could justify county action. Galletti moved to refer the issue to the recreation committee, approved by voice vote.

Earth Week Proclaimed for Mendocino County April 18 24
In Mendocino County the board directed Administrator Al Beltrami to draft a resolution declaring April 18 through 24 as Earth Week in response to a letter from Cathy Easterbrook. The week will expand Earth Day with displays and activities to spotlight environmental problems. Parker rites Friday for Alton E. Parker at Ukiah
Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Friday at Eversole Mortuary Ukiah for 66 year old Alton E Parker a Parker Ranch rancher and former San Mateo plastering contractor who died Monday possibly of a heart attack while riding on the ranch. He is survived by his widow Olive Parker three children eight siblings and eight grandchildren with services conducted by Bishop Don McCallum and burial in Ukiah Cemetery. Lake County supervisors adopt an ordinance prohibiting unauthorized operation of vehicles on private property amid complaints by property owners ranchers and the Forest Service. The measure allows owners to arrest trespassers using jeeps motorcycles dune buggies mini bikes and snowmobiles, excludes government vehicles, and aims to aid sheriff's response to damage such as fence vandalism torn signs and destroyed crops.

Lakeport considers new welfare facility cost options
Lakeport supervisors heard cost statistics for a welfare facility on Armstrong Street. Chairman Phil Lewis compared refurbishing an old courthouse annex with a new metal building. A new metal welfare building could be ready by Sept 30 at an estimated $170,000, with additional metal buildings for agricultural services and county offices totaling $246,000 and demolition of the annex estimated at $25,000.
