Rev Richard Taylor Named to Ukiah Planning Commission

Rev Richard Taylor 38 of Ukiah was appointed by the board of supervisors to serve on the county planning commission replacing Roger Wren who resigned earlier this year. Taylor pastor of Ukiah First Baptist Church resides with wife Sally and son Rick at 393 Hillcrest Ave and will serve from the second supervisorial district.

State Agrees to Inpatient Funding in Hospital Dispute

Attorney Richard Petersen announced that the administration will fund the Mendocino State Hospital inpatients with 60 000 to 80 000 dollars for May and June and 500 000 dollars for the Community Hospital post closing. The deal includes compliance with welfare transfer rules and protection of special programs for alcoholism, addiction, and troubled youths. The hearing on the restraining order was moved to April 21 as a Mendocino County class action proceeds.

Heeb Seeks Funds to Run Ten Mile Justice Court

Judge Robert Heeb asked the board for 3500 dollars to cover court operations through the fiscal year end. The panel denied 2500 for jury and witness costs and 1000 for legal services, approving a transfer only after confirming district attorney funds were unavailable. A 600 legal expense was set, and Beltrami instructed to review how much fine money from Justice Courts returns to the county.

City reviews crosswalk plan for golf carts at Ukiah course

City Attorney Randy Hays told council that a pedestrian like crosswalk and warning signs should suffice for safe golf cart movement from Maple to the new Ukiah Golf Course’s second nine when it opens. The council also rejected a $3,000 claim from airport hangar bidders and approved drainage work on Highland Ave. for $24,903 and Bromley property purchase from the general fund. Museum curator Herbert E. Pruett was named Mendocino County’s first museum curator, to run the new Mendocino County Historical Museum in Willits, starting April 17 at $554 a month.

Mental Health Center Talk Urges Action Over Hospital Closure

Arthur Jost of Reedley spoke at the House of Garner urging Mendocino County to stop fighting the MSH closing and repurpose the site for expanded community mental health and related services. Placer County Supervisor Ray Thompson warned against delaying closure and advocated planning use of hospital grounds for better local facilities. Kings View Mental Health Corporation, operating in five counties with a $6 million budget, was described as coordinating multiple programs and offering a potential pathway out of political gridlock.

Moretti to Visit Ukiah Over North Coast Hospital Issue

Speaker of the California Assembly Robert Moretti will fly into Ukiah at 10 a m Saturday to address concerns over the Men Docino State Hospital closing. Barry Keene will travel with him. The Ukiah Democratic Club invites residents to meet at 9 55 a m for coffee and rolls at the airport and discuss state and local issues.
