Eleven nabbed on drugs charges in Willits burglary case
Sheriff deputies rounded up eleven suspects after a Camp Serenity burglary near Hearst Road led to drug and stolen property charges. Arrested from Willits were David Lawrason, James Shuda, Patrick King, Samuel Walter, Diane Chase, Rosemary Ross, Lee Smith, Marc Schultz, Theodore Mitchell, Joseph Ceratto, and a 15-year-old juvenile. Ten adults face marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia charges. Lawrason and Shuda face extra counts of stolen property. The March burglary reportedly targeted kerosene lamps and tools valued at $100.

Eureka man attempts death by own action on Talmage Road
CHP investigated two weekend accidents in the Ukiah area with one injury case. Walter Bartella, 34, Eureka, was taken to Mendocino Community Hospital after allegedly jumping in front of a westbound pickup driven by Jose Vasques, 42, Ukiah. Bartella reportedly admitted to trying to jump in front of other approaching cars during the incident. Nearby, a non injury car-train collision north of Hopland occurred around 8:30 p.m. as a freight struck a stalled vehicle abandoned by two occupants seen fleeing.

Robert Henry La Motte 27 of Leggett was arrested after a fistfight at a Leggett lodge and charged with assault and battery. James Campbell, also of Leggett, identified as victim, made the citizen's arrest. Bail set at 125 dollars. La Motte jailed as authorities pursue two fleeing suspects linked to a train collision scene traced to A Hernandez of Oakland.

Final services were held at Eversole Mortuary for John Sigmond Johnson 89 of Ukiah who died Thursday. Superior Judge Wayne Burke and Rev Travis Hyatt officiated with burial at Ukiah Cemetery. He lived and ranching in Ukiah for 80 years. Survivors include Lena Johnson four daughters Della Day Vera Graham Ida King Barbara Brown two sons Robert and William Johnson, 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

The 20 month old Sethia Finn Cahn, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Robert Cahn of Albion, died in a house fire on Albion Ridge Road near Highway 1. The death occurred about 9 p.m. with funeral services pending at Cain, Grove and Haverfield Mortuary in Fort Bragg.
