A young man sought a marriage license claiming his future wife was nineteen, prompting a wary registrar to demand the applicant present. In Milan Missouri on May 12 a brutal crime left Gus Meeks, his wife, and two children murdered. A seven year old girl survived after recounting the attack. Suspects William and George Taylor, plus others, face forgery arson and larceny charges while two men Sharon McCullough and George Howlett were detained as participants. A revolver and a stone tied to the case were found near the scene.
