Wheat falls below two dollars under postwar price guarantee
The Associated Press reports Chicago sold wheat for less than 2.23 a bushel for the first time since government control ended. December slipped to 2.21 as buyers stayed away amid tight finances and weak foreign exchange. Corn and provisions also declined while feed grains trades outpaced wheat. Futures activity rose slightly but remains well below prior averages.
