Local property owners protest tax collection action
A district court case filed yesterday by local property owners seeks to restrain the city clerk and county treasurer from collecting taxes on properties in improvement districts Nos. 34, 35, and 37 during an appeal. The suit argues the assessments are unfair, that rolls are being certified contrary to a district court decree, and warns that continued collection could cloud titles and invite many lawsuits. Plaintiffs include T. J. Woods, W. A. Babcock, Cornelia B. Amsbury, F. W. Bronaugh, and others, represented by Asher B. Wilson.

Wife May Convey Separate Property
The Idaho Supreme Court ruled that a married woman may dispose of her separate property and enter contracts about it as a husband may with his property. In the case from Kootenai County, David and Edith F Coolin mortgaged their undivided one seventh interests, while five sevenths were community property. The mortgage is valid against the wife’s separate property but void regarding the community property. a proper acknowledgment before an officer is required for community property used as a residence, and the instrument was invalid for that portion.
