The message lists several navigational buoys around Lacy Shoal and Manuel Rock with coordinates Lat 48 22 N to 49 31 N and Long 53 21 W to 55 03 W. They mark a safe entry into Argentia Harbour with precise coordinates and other navigation details. A new white acetylene buoy light position near Shoal Point is noted with height and bearing. Four moored buoys at Exploits Harbour in Notre Dame Bay are described with color and identification.
A new square flat roof fog alarm building at Cape Spear stands 144 feet above high water with a white paint finish and a resonator projecting from the K end. It is located at latitude 46 31 21 N and longitude 52 36 48 W with a lighthouse bearing 58 degrees true and 337 yards away. The fog alarm will be discontinued for about ten days starting October 16 1939 for machinery transfer, and the present building will be removed in November 1939. Also notice states the buoy has been removed.
New shore fish demand is strong with prices up 150 to 75 cents per quintal on shipments to Jamaica. Puerto Rico prices remain unsettled as the Fishery Board seeks increases for Jamaica shipments. Labrador fish demand is weak. Shipping costs and war risk insurance are rising, and buyers have not agreed to higher prices commensurate with extra costs.
