A press notice solicits Newfoundland poultrymen to report their pullet needs for 1943. It requests total pullets, ages, arrival month, breeds with counts, and an alternate breed, and directs communications to the Director of Agriculture. Canadian authorities will assist in locating pullets for shipment.
Published by Authority under the Emergency Powers Act the Governor in Commission orders a defence regulation dated May 11 1943 at St Johns. The document formalizes wartime security measures for the territory.
The document declares daylight saving in Newfoundland from May 30 1943 to September 5 1943. Clocks are fixed as one and a half hours later than noon by Greenwich mean solar time and all hours are reckoned accordingly. The regulation integrates with existing Standard Time Acts and applies as if included in them.
Radio reports on the 15th inst praise Mixe Eleanor Hawkine for her successful studies at Sackville College.
A sign of codfish was seen at Herring Neck on Thursday. Local observers report the catch as a notable early sign of fish presence in the area.
