Public Notice Advises Caution on Gold Claim Purchases

In view of anticipated investigation activity the Department of Natural Resources warns that buyers of units or shares in gold claims may lack geological knowledge and hold erroneous impressions. It urges consulting the geological section, which has surveyed gold areas, for information on general characteristics before purchasing. Secretary for Natural Resources April 26, 1935.

In Loving Memory of Thomas Roberts

A granddaughter JoAN ROBERTS memorializes grandfather Thomas Roberts who died four years ago on May 2. The note recalls memory and faith with lines about resurrection and reunion. An obituary-like tribute appears alongside a separate local theater brief noting the Arm Academy play Antics of Andrew was postponed Tuesday night to a good turnout.

Seals Spotted at Long Point Amid Rough Seas

Seals were seen from Long Point on Monday though heavy sea and thick ice hindered passage for boats. Some men managed to recover several old and bedlamers but only a few young seals were caught.

Tender Notice for Coal Supply to Lighthouses

Sealed tenders addressed to the undersigned will be received until 12 noon on Wednesday May 15 for supplying 105 tons Best Anthracite Coal Egg Size and 590 tons Screened North Sydney Coal delivered to lighthouse stations with landing and storage included. A $50 money guarantee must accompany each tender with forfeiture if the tender is accepted and the bidder fails to enter into contract or provide required security. Fulfillment within the stated period is required upon acceptance and payment.
