Salvation Army Officer Major Ebenezer Hiscock Dies in Toronto
Major Ebenezer Hiscock of the Salvation Army died in Toronto on February 10. A native of Newfoundland, he served before the war in Twillingate and rose to Adjutant. After almost fifty years in service he retired ten years ago. He leaves a widow and one adopted daughter.

Ranger Battles Heavy Seas Off Newfoundland Tow Attempt Fails
Long Point reported that only eighteen men were rescued by the Newfoundland to date as a towne shopped while trying to tow the Ranger into smoother water. No ice nearby, Ranger strained by heavy sea and high wind. The ship, launched in 1872, commanded by Captain P Mullowney, had carried 16 345 seals. S.S Imogene left St Johns Thursday morning and was alongside next morning but could not aid until wind abated Friday afternoon. The Ranger then remained afloat off the East side of the Bay above St Marty’s.

Public Utilities tests change of driving side in Newfoundland
The Commissioner for Public Utilities proposes to submit a bill to move Newfoundland traffic from left to right driving. The notice argues better signaling, reduced ditch risks, and easier door operation if drivers sit on the side toward oncoming traffic.
