First contingent of Newfoundland Overseas Foresters left St Johns in December and arrived in England around December 19. They agreed to serve until six months after arrival, ending now. About 2460 men from Bondaga and others face expirations by August. Options include enlisting for the war duration, joining His Majesty's forces, or returning home. A second contingent of roughly 900 to 1000 men has signed for war duration. third contingent prospects depend on coal demand after France’s capitulation and Gennaby’s actions.
The Department of Poste and Telegraphs announces rate increases effective midnight July 940. Letters for town rise to 3 cents for the first ounce and 2 cents for each additional ounce. Newspapers mailed by individuals and firms at 2 cents per two ounces. Printed papers set at 1 cent per two ounces. Telegrams Newfoundland to Labrador stations 60 cents for ten words, plus 5 cents per extra word. Parcels under these rates cannot be insured.

On Tuesday at 3 pm Rev J Goodland officiated at St Peter's Church Ranger Ralph Roy Manuel joined with Edith Nmma Simms a hospital nurse. After luncheon at the groom's brother F H Manuel home the bridal party left for Moreton's Hr then Fogo and returned Thursday. The bride given by Harry Osmond Matron Mrs Osmond attended by Stella Manuel bridgesmaid best man Wilson Manuel. Ranger Manuel to continue service and take a new post at Springdale.
Mr Edwin Lacey travels north aboard the Grace Boehner while Mr Facey remains well armed. The report expresses hope he secures a share of wild birds in the trip.
