Newfoundland Fisheries Board Sets Lobster Size Increase

The Newfoundland Fisheries Board announces raising the minimum lobster size from three and one sixteenths to three and one eighth inches carapace measurement to take effect before the 1942 catching season. Fishermen and handlers must adjust instruments and comply with the new rule. Acting Secretary K F Osmond notes the change follows laws in purchasing countries.

Hot Supper Planned at Kettle Cove School

A notice states a hot supper will be served at Kettle Cove School on Wednesday night January 28. Admission priced at 35 cents for adults and 20 cents for children.

Church Services List With Times At St Andrews United Church

Church services are posted for St Andrew's and United Church Little Harbour and North Side. Times include Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and evensong at 7 p.m. at St Andrew's, Matins at 11 a.m. and Evensong later, with Rev T J Pitt and multiple Sunday School and Bible Class sessions, prayer meetings and salvation meetings scheduled in the afternoon and evening.

Merchants of Twillingate Close Shops for Holidays

The Merchants of Twillingate agree to close shops for the usual winter and summer holidays. Closures start Thursday January 22 and continue each Thursday until April 30, with Ash Wednesday and Good Friday observed instead on the two intervening Thursdays. Empire Day on Monday May 25 is also noted.

Mr H C Roberts holds a contract to harvest ice for the Freeh Fish Plant at Path Eod for Monroe Export Co. Teams haul blocks cut on ponds by Mesara as Thomas May and Oba Dish Bridger assist. Harold Baird aids in storing the ice on the premises.
