Church of England notices list Lent Sunday services at St Peter's with Evensong at three o'clock and at St Andrew's with morning Communion.
Minister Rev C E Freake presides at multiple churches with Sunday School sessions across Crow Head Tan Layman Head Cove Manuel’s Cove Harbour and Epman area. Salvation Army evangelistic events led by Capt G Farle Lieut M Eason and family announce holiness meetings Bible classes and prayer gatherings with times various on Sunday and midweek throughout the region.
The notice lists service times for the Pentecostal Assembly led by Pastor and Mrs G F Rowsell. Morning devotion at 10 30 a m with Sunday School at 6 30 p m and prayer at 7 09 p m followed by an evangelistic service.
A notice from N. D. B. M. Hospital seeks a quantity of small bottles not exceeding 17 ounces. Delivery accepted on pibordage basis.
The Men’s Service Club served a Hains burger Steak Dinner in Marshall in four sittings. Dressed in white coats and black ties they sold an assortment of well made men’s goods including a water barrel and a brass pin. Proceeds totaled 167.00 dollars.
The Twillingate community notes the death of Alex Cup at 82 on Sunday. He leaves wife and son Wilfred of North Sidney, plus six grandchildren. Interment was Tuesday at South Side Rink Road Cemetery with Reverend Freake officiating. May thanks go to those who sent condolences and helped during his illness.
A local market advertises fresh beef chicken and pork including jowls and trimmed navel beef with grocery and fancy molasses available.
Ned Anstey and Joe Piercey left their posts Tuesday and head for St John s and Lewisporte respectively to handle depot business and construction. Sealers depart today for ice signing with plans to walk to Birchy Bay via Lewisporte while the Margaret Josephine sails to Lewisporte where ice is absent. Captain Ned reportedly changed Isles and recently ran to Moreton s Harbour before leaving.
