The South Side Men’s Service Club hosts a Thursday supper in Marshall Hall on February 22. Doors open at 6:00 PM. tickets are 60 cents. Menu includes Hamburger Steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, green peas, turnip or carrot, apple pie for dessert, plus a sale table. Secty.
A request from N. D. B. M. Hospital seeks a quantity of small bottles not exceeding 12 ounces. Delivery accepted on Saturdays only.
Obituary notes Josie Snow Young of Twillingate daughter of George and Alice Snow. Sister to Capt. William Snow and wife of a man who moved to the United States over fifty years ago. She died January 29 with her husband and family in the United States. She was mother to triplets three daughters two surviving in the U S. Her passing mirrors friend Sophia Auster of Back Harbour. She sang in St Peter’s choir and remained active in church duties in exile.
Mrs. J T O Reilly formerly of Placentia died at ninety in Twillingate. Her daughter and son in law Mr T B O Keefe of the Department of Transport as weatherman at Tickle Point assisted in the arrangements. Remains were transported to Lensisporte for burial in Placentia where the Sun extends sympathy to Mr and Mrs O Keefe.
The noted shipyard founder Mr Max Barry is due by plane to confer with the Directorate on the interior design of the new hospital clinic boat now under construction. His yard is currently engaged in building the vessel.
Miss Nellie Warr of Little Ar joins the February class at General Hospital St. John’s to start a nursing career. Her year of service as office clerk at Banting Memorial Hospital is noted as she begins this new venture.
The Bridger family at Twillingste faced delays in a site at Wild Cove Two due to manpower shortages and scarce friends. A surprise moving party was held last week at their new home, in a dwelling once owned by William Bridger and later sold to William Guy. Ray Bridger’ s construction work and Roberta of Wild Cove’s two month supervision of hauling and vessel repairs are noted amid ongoing delays.
