The War Department announced the loss of a United States Army transport plane with twenty aboard including eighteen patients, en route from Scotland to Mitchel Field. The aircraft presumably went down Wednesday morning between Iceland and Newfoundland.
Captain directs Look Guides to assemble on Tickle Bridge with note books and pencils at 7 30 PM Monday. If weather prevents, hold the first suitable night after.
Four sailors from the vessel Gladya Wiscombe, captained by Bernard Walsh, were reported adrift in two dories during a gale near Virgin Rocks on July 19. The crew members include Martin Hanna, Joseph Molloy, Frank Ward, and Dominic Farrell, all described with study locations in Newfoundland. Rescue hopes remained uncertain as the storm raged.

A Roseau Rue factory will relocate to Williamsport in White Bay with about 150 men to be employed. The move, described as permanent, aims to expand operations and sustain local industry.
