Public Notice on Salt Fish Export Levy 1943

Bill on Export Levy for Sealskins and Fishery Products

A Bill titled An Act Relating to an Export Levy upon Sealskins and Certain Fishery Products was read a first and second time and published in the Newfoundland Gazette of 30 March 1943 with a statement of Objects and Reasons. By Act No 33 of 1942 an export levy was imposed upon seal skins and certain types of salted fish products.

Regulation amending Defence (Use and Hire of Ships) Rules 1943

The Governor in Council by authority of the Emergency Powers Act 1940 enacts a new regulation amending the Defence (Control of Use and Hire of Ships) Regulations of 1943. Dated March 27, 1943.

Regulation amendment widens ship hire controls to smaller vessels

Regulation 1 of the Defence (Control of Use and Hire of Ships) Regulations 1943 is amended by striking out the words having a net tonnage of one hundred tons or more from paragraph c. The change brings within the regulations a considerable number of vessels of about 70 to 80 tons net register used or likely to be used in the freighting business.

A Service of Story and Song titled Whiter than Snow was held Monday night at the N.S. United Church organized by the Women's Association. Mrs HE Facey led the Story and Mrs. Wm. Moore read the Scripture with Mrs. Eleanor Roberts at the organ, raising £2700 for the Hospital.
