Newport Avenue extension clears key phase in transportation plan
The Tustin News reports Newport Avenue will extend from its current terminus to Edinger and beyond in a two phase project. The city advances a $4.7 million improvement plan including widening to three lanes each direction and adding north south arterial routes. The work aims to improve traffic flow on surrounding roads and interchanges near the freeway.

Student recyclers expand business at Foothill High
The Student Recycling Center at Foothill High School has doubled in size. Sean Pfaff’s special education class runs the operation with ten office staff and seven paid workers after school. They collect recyclables from 75 commercial clients and ship sorted material to a Cerritos warehouse for processing. The center, ten years old, won a state award and earned Clinton’s Environmental Youth Award in 1997 for outstanding student achievement.
