The Johnson administration refused to confirm if Secretary of State Dean Rusk discussed resigning with President Johnson due to his daughter’s interracial marriage. Rusk declined comment on a published report while White House aides avoided discussing the matter.
Cincinnati police responded to an excited call claiming a woman would jump from the American Building. On arrival they found a secretary on a 13th floor porch sunning herself and explaining she decided to wash her hair during her lunch hour.

Arthur I. Schiffman 60 owner of Rogers Jewelers 37 W Congress St died last night in Tucson Medical Center after a year of illness. Funeral at 11 a.m. Sunday at Adair Funeral Home. Survived by sister Mrs Rose Rosenblatt brother Bernard Zeidel both of Tucson and brother Sam of Providence. He was a Temple Emanu El member and charter City of Hope Elks and Fraternal Order of Police member. He came to Tucson in 1943 from Providence Rhode Island. He lived at 2049 E Waverly St.
Henry Neilson 56 was formally charged with murder in the shooting death of his 19 year old estranged wife Lee who died on arrival at Tucson Medical Center after a 9 p.m. shooting at 727 E Limberlost Drive. Neilson later turned the revolver on himself but survived and is hospitalized under guard as detectives say he fired three shots before the suicide attempt.
Mrs. John Benson, age 103 in Fargo, is celebrated as the best cook yet avoids electric or gas stoves. She relies on a black wood burning stove and credits longevity to obeying the ten commandments and taking a bit of sherry on Sundays.
