Sullivan Rites Set for Arizona Former Attorney General
Funeral services are planned for John L. Sullivan 58 former Arizona attorney general and central figure in a major gambling case. A requiem mass will be at St Marys Catholic Church at 11 a.m. burial at St Francis Cemetery. Sullivan died at Papago Park Veterans Hospital from heart and blood pressure complications. He was convicted of conspiring to violate gambling laws and his conviction was later vacated by the Arizona Supreme Court prompting his ouster. He served as state attorney general from 1935 1937 and 1944 1947 and was replaced by Eva De Concini. Survivors include his wife Ethel and children John Francis Sullivan and Mary Boyle.
