Lynch Bids Low For UA Addition
Lynch Engineering and Construction Co. placed the low bid of 132,980 for a University of Arizona Steward Observatory expansion to add a second floor for offices lectures and research labs tied to the Manned Orbiting Laboratory program. Probation Revoked For Check Writer
Superior Court Judge Robert O Roylston revoked probation for Marlin T Lee a 21 year old check writer and narcotics user who admitted drunken driving and continued drinking after probation offers. He sentenced Lee to four and a half to five years in state prison with nine months in county jail for Octavio N Verdugo who resumed heroin use. Lee had three years probation in 1962 for forgery and Verdugo two years probation in 1963 for unlawful narcotic use.

Unexplained Rise Tugs at Jobless Rate in September
UPI reports Labor Department data showing unemployment at 5.2 percent for last month with married men contributing to the uptick. Harold Goldstein of the Bureau of Labor Statistics cautions the rise may be normal fluctuation and not statistically significant. Overall employment and unemployment fell about seasonally, teens reducing labor force as school started. adult men unemployment rose to 3.9 percent while married men reached 2.9 percent. Total unemployed at 3.3 million, 35,000 fewer than August, lowest September level since 1959. First nine months averaged 250,000 below year-ago levels. Unemployment has ranged 4.9 to 5.3 percent over five months, still below 1962–63 levels.
