Tokyo reports a likely big battle as allied forces push toward the Yalu area. 50 miles from the border, U N units clash with Red forces amid heavy air support and reported Chinese involvement.
A massive storm blasted New York, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and surrounding areas with heavy snow up to two feet, high winds, and flooding. Dozens died or missing as transportation halted, power failed, and coastlines including Atlantic City faced isolation.
Santa will arrive in southern California by many conveyances, not reindeer. El Centro by stagecoach, Inglewood astride a donkey, Long Beach on a canal boat, Borrego Springs by airplane, Fullerton by helicopter, San Diego in a giant balloon, Newport Beach by yacht for a Christmas regatta, Huntington Beach with 20 bands, Hollywood with nightly parades, and his sleigh driven by a gasoline engine.
The Citizen announces an extra use of blue paper, making blue Saturday and blue Monday appear twice weekly. Regular white form editions will fill the gap between them.
In Washington on November 25, two Senate Democrats defend Secretary of State Dean Acheson against Republican criticism. Sen. Douglas and Sen. Kefauver urge GOP foes to ease attacks and seek broader foreign policy accord. Sen. Butler backs Sen. Wherry for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee seat, signaling intra party tensions.
Thelma McQuade, declared jaywalker, was nabbed by motorist Frank Castro after three hours of crossing Congress street and Stone avenue. Castro stopped, recognized her, and won the five dollar prize from the Daily Citizen. The event closed the current jaywalker contest as Scouts handed out congratulatory cards for safe crossings.
Washington reports no immediate reestablishment of World War II conscientious objector camps. Selective Service says objectors opposed to all military service are placed in class 4-E and deferred, with boards restricting 4-E to those with belief in a Divine Being. Objectors to only combatant service go to class 1-A-0 if they qualify, becoming eligible for noncombatant service.
Hollywood awash with interest as Mrs. Essie Binkley West plans a Girls Town to shelter troubled girls. She repurposed Camp Anza near Riverside, enlisting winos and derelicts to plaster and paint, keeping labor free and loyal until completion.
Tucson's Chamber of Commerce has received many dust related comments from residents. Citizens urge action to curb dust, including requests to stop driving across vacant lots and to post signs. A winter visitor recalls a dust creating near miss on Broadway as a car swung onto a side street.
The Chamber of Commerce dust control committee will hold a public meeting at 3 p.m. Monday in the Chamber building at 80 S. Stone Ave with Chairman Thomas B. Freeman presiding for the first time. A Phoenix resident notes Tucson dust concerns and urges action as streets and walks remain unpaved, amplifying tax and cleanliness issues.

The Sertoma club launched a dust reduction campaign at a weekly luncheon, appointing a committee led by Robert Brickman to contact other service clubs to urge members to slow on unpaved roads and take personal steps to curb dust. Assisting are Warren Walker Henry Kaldenbaugh Frank Roberts and Don Fickett.

Secretary General Lie postponed to Monday. Bebler set agenda items on aggression against Formosa and Korea to be debated with China present but not voting.
Phoenix November 25 200? A total of 200 767 votes representing 71 9 percent of 279 164 registered were cast in the state general election. Secretary of State Wesley Bolin released the figures for certification Monday. Gubernatorial results show Howard Pyle Republican 99 108 and Mrs Ann Frohmiller Democrat 96 118.
In Youngstown weddings were called off and churches likely empty as the blizzard halted services and left taverns crowded with stranded citizens. Fourteen inches had fallen with 30 inches forecast, drifts rose to workers’ waists, and Warren’s Tribune paused publication for the first time in history. WFMJ radio kept on air with one engineer guiding broadcasts until a reporter arrived. The U.S. Weather Bureau expected moderation by late afternoon with 12 to 18 inches seen in eastern Ohio, though higher totals already occurred in some areas.
Cornell defeated Penn 13 to 6 while Princeton and Dartmouth drew 13 all. Yale beat Harvard 14 to 6 and Holy Cross won 26 to 21 against Temple. NYU was shut out 0 to 0.
A El Paso law firm claims Billy the Kid, real name William Henry Bonney, escaped the Ft Sumner gunfight wounded and has lived in Mexico since 1881. They petition Governor Mabry for an unconditional pardon so he can return openly. They contend the killed man was a companion.
