Sake won best of show and dessert wine first place. William Wehofer from Phoenix made it. Tucson's Robert Thews won the grape wine class with his beaujolais. Phoenician Mike Dannell won the largest class specialty wines with a rose petal wine. Mike Mash of Tucson was second in dessert wines with red wine like Cold Duck. Gary Platt of Tucson was second in grape class with a white grape wine. Joel Moses of Phoenicia second in specialty wines with cherry wine. Mr and Mrs Ross Daniels of Tucson took third and fourth in specialty wines with prickly pear wines from two batches. The statewide contest, first held this year, was sponsored by Dionysian Garden of Tucson and Evelyns Winemaking Supplies of Phoenix, with plans for annual alternation between cities.
