Ferry Collision Sinks Japanese Ferry Amid 159 Feared Dead

A fog bound collision between ferries near Takamatsu and Uno sank the Shinn Maru with 159 feared dead and 631 saved or injured. Many victims were school children returning from a day trip. Rescue efforts included US Army helicopters and Japanese search craft as officials reported 76 bodies recovered and 83 missing.
