Internationally renowned architect Louis Kahn told UA architecture faculty and students that future universities should blend manmade and natural elements in inside-outside spaces. He urged restraint over flashy design, envisioning a city university with undefined courts, a central plaza, and a 150 foot square gallery-ready architecure space. He noted his work on Pakistan's new capital in Dacca, using concrete and marble to shed rain, and stressed that form should reveal how a building is made.

Three Fund Drives Win Approval by Tucson Review Board
The Tucson Fund Raising Review Board approved three campaigns including a $38,000 Arizona Civic Theater mail solicitation May 15 to June 15 to subsidize productions. Tucson Camp for Exceptional Children seeks $6,500 through June 30 to fund a summer camp for about 600 handicapped children. The Junior League of Tucson plans a fund drive and rummage sale through Sept. 15 with a $10,000 goal for community projects.

Four U.S. aquanauts will inhabit a two-chamber ocean floor home 50 feet deep for 60 days in early next year. Operated by Navy NASA Interior Department and General Electric, the mission tests human behavior under isolation with limited surface contact.
