Bills Jammed Through In Night Session

In a marathon all night session the Arizona legislature pushed through the bulk of Gov. Dan E. Garvey’s agenda with only one major item and three minor points left undone. Key actions included confirmation and salary raise for W. W. Lane as land commissioner, creation of a postauditor position filled by Ann Frohmiller, and potential appointment of W. N. Sangster as state auditor. The body also advanced four year term proposals for state officers and legislators, a four year county officers measure, and a referendum on annual sessions, while several appropriations and reclassifications were approved or amended amid bitter clashes with the governor.
