Administration opposes jobless health insurance subsidies

Former Illinois Gov Kerner undergoes lung tumor surgery

Otto Kerner, the former Illinois governor, had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his right lung. Dr. Arthur Haebich expected removal of about one third of the lung. Kerner had been granted emergency parole from Lexington federal prison after a 1973 bribery and stock scandal conviction.
