Nine Men Aboard Missing B 50 Tanker Flight Lead Crew
Nine crew members aboard a B 29 tanker in the world girdling B 50 mission are missing as search continues over the Philippines. The aircraft from Davis Monthan Air Force Base carried eight men and one passenger. The missing plane supported the Lucky Lady II mission in 1949. A P 51 fighter crashed during search but the pilot survived. The Davis Monthan crew included Capt William W Taylor and Capt William G Fuller among others. Local posts report on Clark Field and Luzon search efforts. The flight’s leadership credits Captain James Gallagher as chief pilot.

Pima county supervisors again asked the state tax commission for emergency authority to exceed the 1949 budget to fund sheriff assessor and other offices. Requests totaled 132 949 to 102 392 with 30 290 for the assessor and 44 500 for the sheriff plus line items for health juvenile court and insurance.
