Sisters to get new chapel at Sonoita abbey
Special to the Citizen. Dedication ceremonies are planned here Wednesday for a new chapel at Our Lady of Santa Rita's Abbey, home for Trappistine sisters. Bishop Francis J. Green will preside. The Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance moved into a seven room house on 120 acres in February 1972. The six founders assisted in building the chapel near their house. The abbey is a daughter house of Mount Saint Mary's Abbey, Wrentham, Mass. The nuns live in silence and communicate by sign language. They spend their days working studying and praying.
