City Council Seeks East Speedway Widening Plans
The city council ordered City engineer Verne Tregonis to prepare plans and specifications for widening East Speedway between Alvernon Way and Craycroft Boulevard. The 2 mile project would add three moving lanes and cost about 217000, split between the city and abutting property owners. The council also renewed leases for office space in the old Phoenix Title Building and Mayer Alameda Building, and hired Peat Marwick Mitchell to audit the city books for 14500. They approved 2400 to install water mains linking Martin Reservoir area to west-side mains.
