Navajo Council Decries Relief Plan As Loan Fund

The Navajo tribal council at Window Rock condemned a $100000 relief plan meant to buy milk cows and goats, calling it a loan fund that leaves needy Indians without cash. They note only borrowers will benefit, while many lack access to loans and goats and cows are already plentiful. They oppose past stock reductions and say government action freezes livestock numbers instead of expanding herds. The three day meeting ends Monday.
