Murder trial opens in west side neighbor killing case

In Superior Court Raymond Hegwood 18 stands accused as an accessory to the Feb 18 slaying of Cecil Taylor 32 near Mansfield Park. Calvin Lee Dugan 21 already convicted of first degree murder faces sentencing July 8 after a hung jury previously. Lambert Taylor testified that Dugan and Heywood drove to the vacant lot and ordered the men to flee.

Jail on weekends ordered in copper mine theft case

A Tucson copper miner, Carl M. Jorgenson, 39, was sentenced to one year probation and 12 weekends in Pima County Jail after pleading guilty to three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses in an eight month theft ring at the Anamax Twin Buttes Mine. Also linked were seven co defendants with varied penalties. several cases moved to diversion or dismissed upon repayment and cooperation. A separate Peruvian report notes a cold wave in the Andes freezing many people and Lake Titicaca.
