Escapee Sentenced Castigated By Walsh
The parents of 17 year old Robert Farnsworth of Torrance Calif heard Judge James Walsh call him “a menace to society” as he received a term not exceeding four years under the youth corrections act for a Dyer Act offense. His sentence runs after finishing a current juvenile term, potentially eight years total. Farnsworth fled a federal youth camp in the Catalina Mountains and later, with David Atlas Lock, attacked guards at Pima County Jail. Prosecutor Jo-Ann Diamos and defense urged leniency noting a “mixed-up youth” seeking respect for authority.
