Congress prepares for key votes next week on housing and labor reforms as a three way Republican split shapes Democratic odds. University of California regents meet in Los Angeles and vote unanimously to suspend any teacher or administrative official who is a member of the Communist party or advocates its doctrines. Police inspect the claims of Donald Lee Bledsoe 24 that he burglarized about 59 locations in and around Tucson. Officers accompanied him on a downtown tour to verify entries and recovered loot from multiple stores including Porter's at 120 North Stone Avenue and a Mt Lemmon cabin. Bledsoe says he started stealing after a 1944 reformitory sentence and was released nine months ago.
The Arizona state health department reported 27 new dysentery cases for the week ending Friday night. Mesa led with 15 cases, Phoenix reported nine, with single cases in Gila Bend and Wickenburg. In Hawaii six civil liberties committee members were urged by the Democratic central committee to justify expulsion from the party.

They said their father Donald Frazier left them there Thursday and had traced him to his father Joseph Frazier’s home at Jack's Reef. They were sheltered by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wickes as investigators learned the family details and transport included two buses and a truck.
King Paul has asked Constantin Tsaldaris to form a new Greek cabinet following the death of Premier Themistokles Sophoulis. Tsaldaris, a former premier and Populist leader, plans to consult with Liberal leader Venizelos and may include minor parties in the new government.

The Fifth Avenue Coach Co raised the bus fare on Fifth Avenue to 12 cents, effective Saturday, the second one-cent boost in two days to cover higher operating costs. The rise leaves Fifth Avenue double-deckers at a higher fare than other lines, many of which charge seven cents, and some double-deckers have been replaced by single-deck buses.

Frederick C. Demarest will assume duties as Winslow police chief on July 1 succeeding A. T. Hartley who resigned after ten and a half years to join a federal government post in Phoenix. Demarest is a Winslow native and has served as patrolman and radioman.
