Mayor Breaks Silence Over Wilmot Library Roof Repair Plan

City Council tentatively approves a roof repair plan for the Wilmot Road library branch with an outlay of 16830 dollars. Mayor James N. City Council Seeks HUD Grant for Urban Computer System

City leaders moved toward a multistage HUD grant for a citywide computer information system. Informatics Inc of Sherman Oaks will provide free services in expected good faith negotiations if approved. Ten grants exist. about 100 cities will apply, with CompuTech Research Ltd and Southwest Analysis Co also in the running.

Jail guards to be fired over fraternizing doors

In St. Louis County Missouri jail officials said they will fire two guards and a cook who left doors open between the men’s and women’s sections allowing prisoners to fraternize. The incident prompted internal discipline and an investigation.

Rezoning OKed for 58 Apartments on Ft Lowell Rd

City Council approved a zoning change from R-1 to R-2 along the south side of Ft Lowell Road from Torino Avenue to Kendall Road enabling 120 units on the block, though developers plan fewer than that. Petitioner John W Smith sought the change, and it drew no protest at the hearing though locals filed written opposition. Land Planner Guy Ferro noted the intent to have units rise for sale and that the Planning and Zoning Commission endorsed the rezoning.
