Goddard Eyes Return to Public Office in Arizona
Former Arizona Governor Sam Goddard signals possible campaigns for governor or the U.S. Senate after a 1966 defeat. Party unity and his aloof image cited as hurdles while speculation swirls about Roy Elson succeeding Hayden and Goddard’s own political ambitions. Markets include Republicans for Darrell F. Smith fund events and YMCA memorial efforts aiding Model Legislature participants.

Snider to Run Junior College District Until President Named
Richard H. Snider will serve as administrative assistant for the Pima County Junior College District on a month to month basis starting July 1 at a $1000 salary. The board delayed hiring a president due to one candidate being overseas. Snider previously led feasibility work and teaches on junior colleges at the University of Arizona. The board hired Blanton & Co. for a $3000 topographical survey of the 260 acre West Side campus. Bond consultants Goodbody & Co. and Woodward & Zuber were named for the district's October bond issue. A July 5 public hearing will address the 1967-68 budget, and a general public relations policy was adopted.

River Quality Rules Fixed by Phoenix Council
PHOENIX RP Quality Standards for the Gila and Colorado rivers were adopted by the new water quality control council. The action avoids federal imposition of standards. Under the state rules irrigators can divert water and return lower quality drainage to streams. Tom Jones, attorney for the Yuma Irrigation District, appeared during the daylong meeting.
