Voters registered in Pima county out of town for the July 16 primary may vote at the recorder's office in the county courthouse. Absentee voting ends July 15 at 5 p.m. Sick voters may obtain medical certificates to vote at home. Additional helpers from both parties are needed at precincts.
Vernon Cole, 40, of 1620 Ontario Street, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital after suffering a throat wound on the right side and a gash on the left chin. A report to Sheriff Ed F. Echols says his condition is improving and he declined to explain the injuries at noon.
Coast Guard Lt Farrell Harvey on short leave in Tucson is being sought by USO Traveler's Aid at 48 North Sixth Avenue to report back to base in Long Beach California by Monday.
Agnes Diez Robinson, 66, of 2518 Balboa avenue, wife of the late Bert Stewart Robinson, died this morning in a local hospital. She leaves a daughter Anla I. Russell and son Stuart Robinson, both of Tucson, two sisters in Lyndhurst Ohio, and a niece in Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Reilly's with Rev. Norman L. Cummings officiating, burial in the family plot Masonic cemetery.
Eleven enlistments were reported today from the local recruiting offices. Three men joined the Navy and eight enlisted in the Army. Navy enlistees are Norman Edward Krietemeyer, Donald Mark Confer, and Jefferson Warren Lilly. Army recruits from Tucson include Sammie Myles, Keith D. McNabb, Manuel A. Valdez, Charles Mejia, Paul P. Buller, Cruz Madrid Cocio, and Ernest G. LaPere.
Public records list police court cases including warrants and fines for Juanita Simms and Furlow vagrancy 15 day jail 15 dollar fine, Don Burkhead disturbing the peace 25 dollar bond forfeited, and Ignacio Escalante peace offenses. Civil filings include Wanda Jean Johnson vs Berton Bryan Johnson divorce and Mary A Martinez vs Mike R Martinez divorce. Marriage licenses issued for Maurice O Heck and Jo Ann Hansen and Odilio Alameda and Manuela Echeverria.
Jack K. Bleming, 30, of 720 South Third avenue, is in custody after four witnesses identified him as the lone bandit who held up the Nehi Beverage Co. offices on May 27 at gunpoint. The robbers fled with $192.87 including $22.50 cash and checks. Bleming was caught in a trap set by Detectives Herron, Saylor, and Brady. he allegedly forged another name to cash checks and faces armed robbery charges with possible life imprisonment.
Twenty four members of St Andrew's Episcopal church will attend the Arizona Episcopal family conference at Prescott camp grounds from June 24 to July 6.
In a yard at 273 North Main Street, Capt. Frank Keefe and two patrolmen confronted a 25-year-old Army veteran armed with a shotgun. Keefe knocked the man down after disarming him and delivering two blows, saving his life and preventing a kill attempt on the wife and mother-in-law. The suspect was treated for abrasions at Pima County Hospital.
Mr and Mrs David M Batavia of 1800 East Second Street plan a two month trip starting Monday heading east. They will be away from home through the period.
