Ike Not Too Upset By Budget Cuts Says Rep Jensen

Rep Jensen of Iowa reported that President Eisenhower appeared calm about congressional budget cuts after a White House breakfast with 40 Republican members. The group, part of a series to push his budget program, followed a GOP rally where Eisenhower spoke and defined Republicanism. Jensen praised Eisenhower as a fair leader who allows lawmakers to vote their convictions while staying in his good graces. Martin and McIntire noted no business discussion, and several members lobby for their states while Eisnhower eyes a vacation site, possibly New England, though Congress must adjourn first, likely by Sept 1.
